At the Company’s newest potato processing plant, Simplot India, employees recently came together for Road Safety Week to raise awareness about road safety and work toward reducing accidents and saving lives. Road Safety Week is an annual initiative organized by the Indian Ministry of Road Transport and Highway to raise awareness about road safety and promote responsible driving practices.
There were many important learnings and memorable moments from Simplot India’s Road Safety Week events. In Awareness Training, participants actively engaged in sessions covering key aspects of road safety, including the importance of adhering to road safety signage.
A fun and educational Road Safety Quiz allowed everyone to test their knowledge on traffic signs, regulations and safety practices.
Hands-on demonstrations and real-life case studies were at the heart of Road Safety Day Practical Sessions & Case Studies. These emphasized how road safety signage can prevent accidents and ensure a safer driving experience.
Participants also explored a wide range of signs in the Understanding Road Safety Signage segment. These included regulatory, warning, and informational signs, and the group discussed their meaning and importance in maintaining order on the roads.
There were also in-depth discussions about the legal framework that governs road safety in India, the Central Motor Vehicle Act. Particular attention was paid to the role of road signage in compliance with the law.
The Infant and Child Safety component emphasized child passenger safety, including the proper use of child restraints and recognizing signs indicating safe zones for children.
And if the unthinkable should happen, the Post-Accident First Aid Training session offered practical first aid sessions. Participants learned critical skills for managing emergencies, and how road safety signage helps identify hazard areas where such skills are often needed.
Simplot India’s Road Safety Week observance was an excellent opportunity to reinforce the importance of road safety signs – not just for drivers but for all road users – and to stay prepared for emergencies.
